Mathilde: Hello dear team. I have mine last week Online therapy course Hellobetter Sleep ended.

How did you come up with the idea of ​​trying an online psychological therapy course?

Mathilde: How did I get to the course? After many years of suffering from sleep disorders, I had done a lot of research on the Internet to find ways to learn how to sleep better or at least deal with my sleep problems. That's how I came across the Empowerment Avenue course and was surprised that it was available on prescription. Neither my neurologist, who has been treating me for 3 years for my problem and with whom I had already tried several antidepressants, nor my family doctor knew about the course. However, after some hesitation, the latter was willing to write me a prescription.

Please tell us more about your experiences with Empowerment Avenue.

Mathilde: I approached each unit with a lot of enthusiasm, and it wasn't always easy to persevere. But it was worth it. Lots of good tips, with detailed information, helped me to reach my goal.

What was your greatest achievement or insight in the course?

Mathilde: I think the most effective method for me was and is to reduce the amount of time I spend in bed. Since I only spend between 6 and 7 hours in bed, I don't necessarily sleep much longer, but the quality of my sleep has improved significantly.

I sometimes sleep for 4 hours at a time, which I never did before. I feel well-rested during the day. Before the course, I took half a sleeping pill every few days, but since the course started, I hardly need them at all.

Of course, every now and then there are nights that aren't good, but that's normal and I can deal with it.

Which course content has made it into your everyday life?

Mathilde: Important tools for me are the sleep diary and the end-of-day diary, in which I reflect on my day and can thereby reduce the amount of worrying I do at night.

What is your conclusion after the course and how do you feel now? Would you recommend the therapy course to others?

Mathilde: My conclusion is that I would recommend this course to anyone in my situation or a similar one. A big thank you to everyone who was and is involved in the development and implementation of this instrument.
